Gustav-Heinemann Comprehensive School Essen was founded in 1981 as a school with secondary levels I and II.

At the moment nearly 1300 students are in the years 5 to 13. According to their achievements they can get different qualifications:

• Hauptschulabschluss
• Fachoberschulreife
• Fachhochschulreife
• Abitur

Supporting the creative potentials of our students is an important goal of education at our school. Dance, drama, music and art are especially promoted. There also are regular performances.

Another important focus is the European dimension of education and teaching. Gustav-Heinemann Comprehensive School is a member of two European school networks, the Network of European Schools in Essen and the Network of Europe Oriented Schools (NEOS). It is an important objective in our school to prepare students for a life in Europe.
